GiGi’s Kitchen is designed to emphasize the importance of health and wellness through nutrition education, kitchen safety, food preparation, social activities, and a shared meal/snack. Under the guidance of program leaders, participants will learn about and progress through skills including measurements, food handling, knife skills, ingredient identification, palatte expansion and nutrition. Participants will be introduced to various cooking techniques that will empower them in everyday living.  GiGi’s Kitchen programs will build participants self-esteem and self-confidence through nutrition and wellness!

GiGi's Kitchen Program Goals 

  • Increase knowledge of nutrition education through understanding the importance of proteins, vegetables, fruit, dairy and fats including portion control and nutritional value which will create a healthy lifestyle.  

  • Increase knowledge of kitchen safety and food preparationthrough food handling practices, use of utensils and equipment, knife skills, cooking techniques and measurements including real-life application of general math and science which will encourage creativity and healthy choices.  

  • Increase self-confidencethroughactivities that reinforce practical skills, good manners and peer to peer interaction by socializing and bonding over meals.   

  • Increase quality of life by sharing learned skills at mealtime, creating memories and applying nutrition and healthy wellness habits.  

 

Attendance Policy 

I understand that thisGiGi’s Kitchenprogram is an enrollment-based program, if I miss 3 days of the program that my spot in the program may be forfeited. I also understand that if I must miss a day of the program, I need to contact the Program Coordinator/Instructor prior to the start of class.  I am expected to arrive on time for my GiGi’s Kitchenprogram, check-in and be ready to participate and give my Best of All.   

  


At Home Practice Policy 

I will practice learned progressions with support as needed outside of class in a safe environment as often as I can.  I will work hard to complete my GiGi’s Kitchen Recipe Book Journal, make healthy choices in nutrition and safety each day.

Attendance Policy 

I understand that if my son/daughter misses 3 days of the program that his/her spot in the program may be forfeited. I also understand that if he/she must miss a day of the program we need to contact the Program Coordinator/Instructor prior to the start of class. He/She is expected to arrive on time for the program, check-in and be ready to participate and give their Best of All.   

 

I believe that I, as a mentor play a very large role in the development of my child and their success.  I will ensure that they have opportunities to participate, be active, and make healthy choices.   

I understand and agree to the following to ensure success: 

  • Assist with completing the GiGi’s Kitchen Recipe Book Journal as needed & make sure it is complete. 
  • Encourage healthy eating daily and exercise for 30 mins for at least 5 days a week. 
  • Provide a safe environment for my child to practice learned progressions with support as needed
  • Speak with the program leader and my son/daughter about the purposeful progressions and progress in the program.  
  • Encourage and celebrate Best of All moments.
